Curing Violence in a COVID-19 World

An Invitation from the TTN Chicago Chapter

Join us for a discussion of the intersection of violence and COVID-19 in America. Karen Volker from Cure Violence Global (CVG), an international organization that uses a health approach to interrupt and stop the spread of violence, will lead our discussion and share how the group has shifted its focus to helping its network of outreach workers and violence interrupters fight the COVID-19 pandemic in vulnerable, often neglected communities while continuing their violence prevention work.

Cure Violence Global’s effort around COVID-19 is critical, as many of these communities are home to essential workers, as well as demographics that are especially vulnerable to the virus and those living in crowded conditions. At this moment of national crisis, CVG is using its health worker infrastructure to combat the virus and keep tensions from escalating to violence in these highly vulnerable communities.
