The Partner (1997) is a legal thriller by American novelist John Grisham. A law firm’s junior partner learns of a scheme masterminded by his firm’s client to defraud the U.S. government, and stand to make tens of millions of dollars. Set in Biloxi, Mississippi, the primary character devises a plan of his own, even faking his own death, to steal the money from secret off-shore accounts. After complicated turns of events, at the highest levels of government, he must protect the people he cares for, gain his freedom, and return the fortune that he secretly set aside. Kirkus Reviews called this book “Grisham’s best-plotted novel."
