Boston Chapter Event: It's 5:00 Somewhere - Creating a Women's Fund

Friday, May 21, 2021, 5‑6pm EDT
Location: Online

Hear their remarkable Story!

The power of women giving to other disadvantaged women.  Co-founders Rachel Sagan and Rebecca Parkhill will tell their story of how they saw a need and figured out how to address it.  They will share their success in starting and growing a new social venture, the Metrowest Women's Fund. Both women were at a transitional moment in their lives, when they came together to create something needed and new. They combined their passion for improving the lives of women and girls and their experience in local philanthropy and leadership to launch a new organization. The program will include their story, Q & A and an immersive program on Strengthening the Generosity muscle which will include a meditation and journaling exercise.

The fund focuses on education and opportunity for low income women and girls and on safety from violence from domestic violence, sexual assault and the commercial sex trade.

MetroWest Women's Fund invests in women and girls through education, community building, grant making and strategic partnerships.  Their mission is to identify the needs of women and girls in the Metrowest and raise resources to meet those needs.  The Fund focuses on three social impact areas: Education with a focus on opportunity for low-income women and girls,  Girls: The Next Generation with a focus on needs of girls from low incomes, and Safety From Violence with a focus on domestic violence, sexual assault, and survivors of the commercial sex trade.

Rebecca is an ordained Unitarian Universalist community minister.  She serves on the Program Committee of Young Audiences of Massachusetts, a non-profit that brings arts education and programming to children throughout the state.

Rachel enjoys a professional life dedicated to public interest law, philanthropy and non-profit management.  Rachel received the Outstanding Non-Profit Executive Director of the Year by the Middlewest West Chamber of Commerce.
