Learn to cook a delicious French meal while supporting a great cause! In this virtual cooking workshop, you will be guided through the step-by-step process for making the French bistro classic, poulet au vinaigre, as well as two seasonal, French-inspired side dishes. So, if you’re dreaming of Paris in the springtime, we invite you to join us for this fun, interactive class!
Proceeds from the event support Edible Alphabet, a hallmark program of the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Culinary Literacy Center. Edible Alphabet offers immigrants and refugees living in Philadelphia innovative English Language Learning through cooking, increasing their knowledge, fluency and confidence in conversing, and providing them with the skills and abilities needed to fully participate in the civic, cultural, and economic life of the city. Allons cuisiner!
Our chef instructor for this program is Genevieve Guastella. Genevieve loves her position with the Free Library of Philadelphia because it combines two of her greatest loves; libraries and cooking. After graduating with a BA in English Literature and Art History from Chestnut Hill College in 2008, she sampled a few different jobs before ultimately deciding to hone her baking skills and become a pastry chef. A 2015 graduate of The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, she worked full-time in the kitchen while completing her A.S. degree in Pastry Arts. She has baked professionally at Osteria, Metropolitan Bakery, and Garces Catering. She is currently making petit fours and other delicious treats at Porco's Small Oven Philly and is enjoying her third year with the Edible Alphabet English program. She can often be found eating cookies.
Registrants will receive a confirmation email with a shopping list, recipes, recommended wine pairing, and the ZOOM link prior to the event. You will need to mise en place (gather all your ingredients, equipment, and prep some elements of the recipe) prior to the start of the class.
