Boston Chapter Event: Lou Jones, Photographer - Redefining the Modern Image of Africa

Monday, September 21, 2020, 7‑8:30pm EDT
Location: Online
Email: bostonchapter@thetransitionnetwork.org

When many of us were contemplating our retirement years, Lou Jones was busy planning his next big adventure, panAFRICAproject . The project’s goal is to visit all of the 54 countries in Africa and create a contemporary visual portrait of the place that Lou calls “the most progressive twenty-first century continent.” Much more than simply traveling and taking pictures, panAFRICAproject involves making connections, enlisting input from local leaders, and spending enough time in each location to understand what makes it unique.

Lou Jones' eclectic career has evolved from commercial to the personal. Based in Boston, he has worked for Fortune 500 corporations, international companies, and local small businesses. He has also completed assignments for publishers such as Time/Life, National Geographic, and Paris Match. His personal projects have focused on the civil wars in Central America, death row, Olympic Games, and pregnancy. He has published several books.
