The Story of the Nineteenth Amendment Votes for Women

Wednesday, June 3, 2020
Time:
10:00 -11:00 am
Location: Zoom Webinar

Many of us are in our 60s, 70s and beyond.  The right to vote for women was approved just 100 years ago.

In celebration of this 100 year anniversary, Author Barbara Benson will share the fascinating history leading up to this significant moment.  Barbara’s recent book, “Massachusetts in the Women’s Suffrage Movement,” reframes the story of the suffrage movement, placing Massachusetts as the birthplace of the movement and recasting the important role of Lucy Stone alongside her more famous colleagues.

Barbara is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.  She retired from her position as senior attorney at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in June 2019 and now serves on the boards of Boston By Foot and the Royal House and Slave Quarters.
