It has been more than four months since the start of the biggest challenges of our lives: the Corona Virus Pandemic, physical and social restrictions and the social and political unrest.
We are proud of our Philadelphia Chapter leaders and volunteers who are working steadfastly to provide the programs and connections that inspire and educate. Our Events Calendar, with many local programs and more being shared across chapters, is strengthening our bonds and truly building a national community.
The social and political turmoil of the last few weeks have affected us all. The PHL Steering Committee members and leaders are working hard to define how we can have a greater impact and best serve our members during these increasingly difficult times. TTN’s Core Values are: Community and Connection, Leadership, Lifelong Learning, Inclusion and Diversity, and Impact. These drove us to reflect on our role in making a difference in our community and organization. We realized that we needed to become more educated before formalizing any action plans going forward.
Our first major program to address education regarding current events featured a local expert in Race Relations and was very well received by our members. We also have created a new page, where you can find lists of resources to self-educate and get involved. Finally, we have many opportunities in our volunteerism area to help make greater Community Impact which you can find here.
From our Board President’s letter to members:
TTN’s Values Statement provides strong support for how we, as “an army of women”, can make a difference in the world:
We endeavor to create an atmosphere of friendship, respect and care for each other regardless of age, disability, race, ethnicity, cultural background or preferences, political affiliation, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or financial situation.
Our Chapter has never felt more energized and alive. We’re here for you now and in the future. We welcome your suggestions!
