The Transition Network

Looking for volunteers!

TTN, unlike many organizations you may belong to, is an all volunteer organization. Our activities are created and led by our members working together.

TTN is looking for volunteers to take important roles in our chapter:

 Special Interest Group Coordinator. Have an interest in travel? Arts and crafts? Or another area that you'd like to form a SIG around? We are looking for group coordinators.

 Volunteer Coordinator: Community Impact is an integral part of TTN Chicago. We are looking for someone to organize and coordinate group volunteer activities.

Community impact has always been an important element of TTN’s mission. In years past, TTN Chicago has engaged in a variety of activities that made an impact on the lives of others, including fundraising and building homes for women-led households, sponsoring a Halloween party for children in under-resourced areas, collecting and then donating books to under-served communities, socializing with women living in a homeless shelter, and many more. Research shows that volunteerism helps people create a sense of purpose, builds social connections and increases life satisfaction.

We are looking for TTN Chicago members who are interested in making a difference in the lives of others to explore ideas and collaborate on community related projects. Members will have a unique opportunity in taking turns to choose and lead a variety of volunteer projects that serve women and children. This may develop into an interest group in the future.

If you are interested in learning more about this initiative, please contact Michelle Weisberg. You’ll be glad you did.

 Anti-racism, Allyship and D&I. We would love to have a member lead discussions, share and suggest books we can read together, help lead a local workshops around social justice, anti-racism, allyship, diversity and inclusion. This volunteer would also be part of our national TTN task-force to develop and implement programming in this area. Please contact Kimberly Mulcahy if interested.

Our TTN Chicago Steering Committee!

The TTN Chicago Steering Committee has been together for nearly 4 years. Our chapter has grown tremendously since 2018, and we are always seeking members to support our chapter and bring fresh ideas, new energy and will roll up her sleeves and help us plan for our continued growth and member engagement.

The Steering Committee is highly collaborative, supportive, and responsive.  We each currently serve as committee chairs and members and/or take a leadership role for key functions of the chapter.

New Steering Committee members will initially join as “at large” members and choose to serve a 2- or 3-year term.  Once on the Steering Committee, they can then decide in which of the above open roles and committees they might like to serve.

The Chicago Steering Committee meets once a month for up to 2 hours, in the early evening or sometimes early morning to accommodate work schedules. We also engage in ad hoc calls and email exchanges to plan and organize events, member drives, etc. In addition to the above roles, we also lead or facilitate events and activities for our chapter as well as engage in certain TTN National meetings and committees.  Overall, Steering Committee members dedicate about 8-12 hours per month to chapter leadership activities.

If you have questions about the Steering Committee Leadership Board or would like to know more about how you can help on one of the volunteer opportunities listed,  please email Kimberly Mulcahy.  Thank you!
