We’re Expanding our TTN Chicago Steering Committee!

The TTN Chicago Steering Committee has been together for 3 years. Our chapter has grown tremendously since 2018, and we realize it’s now time to do some succession planning and expand our leadership board. We are hoping to add 2-3 Chicago members to the Steering Committee who will bring in fresh ideas, new energy and will roll up her sleeves and help us plan for our continued growth and member engagement.

The Steering Committee is highly collaborative, supportive, and responsive.  We each currently serve as committee chairs and members and/or take a leadership role for key functions of the chapter.  These roles include (see roles and responsibilities here)

New Steering Committee members will initially join as “at large” members and choose to serve a 2- or 3-year term.  Once on the Steering Committee, they can then decide in which of the above open roles and committees they might like to serve.

The Chicago Steering Committee meets (currently virtually) once a month for up to 2 hours, in the early evening or sometimes early morning to accommodate work schedules. We also engage in ad hoc calls and email exchanges to plan and organize events, member drives, etc. In addition to the above roles, we also lead or facilitate events and activities for our chapter as well as engage in certain TTN National meetings and committees.  Overall, Steering Committee members dedicate about 8-12 hours per month to chapter leadership activities.

If you are interested in becoming a Steering Committee member, we ask that you download and complete the application and email it to Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2021. If you know someone in the chapter who would be a great addition to the Steering Committee, please encourage her to apply. Note all applicants must be active TTN Chicago Members. Be sure to check and renew if your membership has recently lapsed.

Selection will be through Steering Committee review of applications and a virtual panel interview of each applicant with our Steering Committee. New Steering Committee nominees, along with our current Steering Committee members, will be presented to our Chicago Chapter Members via an email and all chapter members will be asked to confirm their nomination via Survey Monkey. Members will have the opportunity to “approve” or “oppose” members via check box. Once approved, new Steering Committee members will begin their term on March 1, 2021.

If you have questions about the Steering Committee Leadership Board or the application process, would like to know more about how you can help on one of the committees listed, or wish to get involved in our chapter in other ways besides being on the Steering Committee, please email Kimberly Mulcahy.  Thank you!
