Position: The Center for Learning and Living, Inc. Technical Support/Administrative Assistant


Longtime TTN-NYC member and Executive Director of the Center for Learning and Living, Inc Judy Langer submitted this employment opportunity.

The Center for Learning and Living is a non-profit school for people 55+ on a wide variety of intellectual and cultural subjects, based in midtown Manhattan.  It started in 1994 at Marymount Manhattan College, has been an independent corporation since 2010 and is affiliated with the College again.  Currently, all classes and special events on online.  We plan to move to a hybrid model (in-person classes and online) Winter 2022; if the situation in NYC improves significantly, we might start with hybrid Fall 2021. Abilities/skills

Skilled at using MailChimp, Zoom, SquareSpace, YouTube, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Database management.

Able to communicate clearly to people who are not tech-savvy. 

Role/responsibilities

Work with the CL&L executive director and at least one other administrative assistant.

Monitor and update the website (we will be switching to SquareSpace in August). Add messages, with copy provided by the executive director; links to the semester’s course description and registration; additional information about events, speakers.

Attend all CL&L classes online and/or in-person, with additional time before and after the class.  We have three 8-week semesters in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and one 4-week semester in Summer. Assist students and teachers with tech issues.

Format and send emails using MailChimp.  Executive director and administrative assistant prepare texts. 

Format each semester’s materials – cover letter, course descriptions and registration form.  Copy prepared by executive director and administrative assistant.

Prepare mailing labels, assist in printing and folding materials mentioned above, assist in the mailing.

Availability

During semesters approximately 7 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for online and/or in-person classes; on Monday and Friday up to 2 hours between 9am and 6pm; occasional brief weekend communication.  Approximately 10 flexible hours per week during non-semester periods.

Pay

$25 per hour.
