Crowns, Flowers, Mansions & Wyeths ~ A Perfect Jersey Girls Road Trip(Posted June 11, 2019)
We started our day with a visit to Winterthur, the former home of Henry Du Pont, to see the marvelous gardens and the current exhibit “Costumes from the Crown” (the Netflix series.)
Later in the day, some of us opted to tour this wonderful historic mansion, while others spent the afternoon at the Brandywine River Museum of Art enjoying the glorious art of Andrew Wyeth and his family and the landscape that inspired three generations of Wyeths. After a scrumptious dinner and a good night’s rest, we continued our Brandywine adventure at Longword Gardens, walking among the magnificent outdoor gardens, lily ponds and orchids of the Conservatory while enjoying the amazing dancing waters of the fountains.
Some of us even found time to visit the Nemours Estate, another home of the Dupont clan, before beginning the long drive home!
