A Review of Our Paris Road Scholar Trip - Outstanding!

Brigitte Young, our Group Leader, was there for us from the moment we left the plane through our entire experience. She took care of everything -- from keeping us on schedule to problem-solving issues that came up, to planning delightful dinners, to helping with special needs in such a warm, supportive and calm approach. She clearly knew Paris so well, so she was able to give terrific background information, suggestions of places to see, cafes to check out, things to do in our "free time." And besides all that, she is a caring, supportive and lovely person!

Jennifer (Jennie) our walking tour guide, shared her wealth of historical knowledge of the walks we took with her in different key areas of Paris. She related with ease and warmth to the group, both on the walks and at the meals she had with us.
I highly recommend both Brigitte and Jennie. True gems!
What a special treat to learn from Dr. Clark Poling. It was so helpful that we each had ear phones and could easily hear him as he moved from each painting and gallery. Clark offered us an outstanding course and in-depth overview of French art, showcasing major artists from the pre-impressionism impressionism, post-impressionism and modern French art periods. He visited each museum in advance, so that he knew exactly which paintings he wanted to present to us with a detailed analysis about the artist, his painting, and the historical context of his time. I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the French artists we studied and how they impacted each other in the development of their art.
Corner Cafe where we had our first French dinner togetherThe TTN Road Scholar Paris Program was a wonderful opportunity for women in the Transition Network from across the country to interact with each other. The participants got along very well together and comfortably moved in and out of small groups for each day's outings. The breakfasts at small tables every morning at the hotel, as well as the three group dinners, gave opportunity for participants to know each other. Besides the museum exhibits and guided walks, women also took off to see other museums, to shop and to walk the delightful city of Paris. And of course a stop at one of the many cafes for a cafe creme. Seeing Montmartre was a favorite of mine. Great fun.
Villa Pantheon -- our boutique hotel in Paris
However, while the location is a plus, the rooms were very small and some of the participants were disappointed. Personally, I found the hotel to be charming and quaint. The staff there were very helpful.
The Paris program was everything I hoped it would be when Clark and I first began envisioning it. My thanks to the Road Scholar team, to Betsy, Clark, Brigitte and Jennie for making it happen. A dream come true.
We plan to share additional photos of our Paris trip on our national website. Stay tuned.

Arlene, Thanks for arranging a marvelous trip. I had been looking for the right tour to Paris for a long time and I'm so glad you made it possible. - Willa Pickering, Virginia
I had a wonderful time on our art-guided trip to Paris. It was as excellent as advertised. The hotel was in a perfect location on the Left Bank. The group size was just right – enough people to find camaraderie, not too many to be lost in a crowd. Dr. Clark Poling was an excellent art guide. He added insights to the art we were viewing and connected time lines as we went on to subsequent museums. The dinners were delicious, with good local cheeses choices of entrees, wine and dessert. Our travel guide, Brigitte Young was energetic, enthusiastic, caring, and had a great sense of humor! Jennifer, our walking guide, was excellent, knowledgeable, and caring. Road Scholar did an excellent job of putting all the travel details together. - Sue Busby, California
A really good group! Everyone was so collegial. And everything went so smoothly. Clark, Brigitte and Jennifer were wonderful, with a great depth of knowledge. Welcome and farewell dinners were great.-- Jan Kosta, New York
I gained a whole new perspective on The Transition Network - seeing the range of women in age, experience and where they are now in their lives. I was particularly impressed with Road Scholar. Brigette and Jennie made the experience effortless. And the hotel and travel arrangements were top notch. - Barbara Weiss, California
